Election Results

WHO VOTED IN THE MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS? Not you? Oh… well it doesn’t surprise me considering Chilliwack had a voter turnout of 14%! Surrey had about 25%. Excuse me as I slowly fall in a circle and die

No one ran against Gaetz so she’s your mayor for another three years. And predictably, Dianne Watts will reign with her Surrey First children until kingdom come. Whatever. At least she’s an advocate for light rail. At this point, I just don’t care enough to write any more sentences or devote any more of my valuable time that could be spent watching Breaking Bad to these two mayors.

Out of about 63,000 eligible Chilliwack citizens around 9300 voted. Unreal. What were you too busy doing that prevented you from going to the polls? Too busy sexing chicks? Raving in a farmer’s manure covered field? Hotboxing in the Walmart parking lot? Honestly.

Even if you felt as if no candidate accurately reflected your views, why not cast a blank ballot? I refused to vote for my mayoral candidates so I left it blank and there were only a few councillors and school board trustee candidates for which I voted. Just don’t tamper/spoil the ballot as it can result in a fine or jail time FYI.

Anyway, the highest number of votes a councillor received in Chilliwack was 5,386 for Chuck Stam. I am beginning to think that most must have confused him for Chuck Strahl…

199 votes separates the last councillor to get a seat and the next highest candidate. Now don’t tell me that your vote would not have mattered. Overall, the margins separating candidates were slim. Two first-time candidates received seats: Jason Lum and Ken Popove. We will see how having a young person will affect council…

As to Surrey politics, I just don’t give a shit anymore. All I care about is that Sidney Crosby is back on the ice.

Until my next post…
